Frank Scherr was born in Mobridge in 1932 and raised his 10 children in this beautiful community by the Missouri River.  Frank loved horses and was a cowboy who competed in steer wrestling and calf roping for many years.  He also enjoyed playing poker and by all accounts was quite successful.

He learned to play golf at the age of 62 and competed with the same passion that he rodeoed and played poker.  This tournament is a celebration of Frank's love of golf, competition, family, and rodeo.  All proceeds from the tournament from 2014 - 2020 benefited the Mobridge Rodeo Association. Frank Scherr Memorial Inc. is currently donating all proceeds to Oahe Hills Golf Course.

Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening – and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented.
